Some ISP will not let you connect 2 PC's using single IP address (Unique address provided by your ISP). Unless you pay little more and request 2nd IP address.
Return you HUB and buy a DSL Router. Linksys, Netgear, and others produce DSL routers, that allows you to connect 2 PCs simultaneously.
When you first buy it make sure you follow the guide to incorporate your IP address with the router.

visit:

covers DSL sharing and more.

and

Sharing tab - covers DSL and Cable (and DUN)

The D-Link access router gets good reviews from those who use it (MAC users included...)

i understand that u may be confused by the lingo. I too had this question. Let me explain in full.
I have a netgear rt314. I know it works on this but i think it works the same on the linksys. Ok, there are 5 ports on the rt314. One port is an uplink port which you connect to your dsl modem with the ethernet cable. The other 4 are for 4 other computers you want to share the internet with. Plug your two computers into 2 of these 4 ports. Restart both of them. Open your web browser on the computer that was originally connected to the dsl modem. Type http://192.168.0.1
username:admin
password:1234(i think-its in the manual)

There you'll see a step by step explanitory set of webpages to configure your internet gateway(rt314). Once you do this. Restart both computers again and they shouldn't have any problem connecting to the internet without configuration, provided they are windows 98SE or greater. The reason I say this is because I haven't tried it on anything less and it *may* require addt'l config in windows.

I use a Linksys Router, I bought ahub first, this was useless, I had the two computers to see each other i.e file sharing and such, however when I tried to access the net on one computer when the other computer was on the net at the same time, my main pc rebooted, odd, I have some talented friends in this feild, they could not understand this, so after reinstalling win98se and ics(internet connection sharing) on both pc, you only have to have ics on the main one, and after totally resetting everything to the correct protocols, the same thing happened, well finally I took my hub back, which was a network starter kit by Linksys, and spent almost 300.00 bux for the Linksys 5 port Router, man.. everything was so easy pass'd that, I have been using the router for several months now, what makes it so great is my wife is a AOL addict, I personally despise that software and ISP, but nonetheless she did not want to lose the use of it, I let her connect to AOL over TCP/IP 9transfer control protocol/internet protocol, and I pay 9.95 a month for this which saved me 15 bux a month, I tell you this router is super sweet it even has a nice built in firewall that is highly configurable, all I am saying is you get what you pay for, now I will stress that if you like running a game server like I do i.e Unreal tournament, you will have problems getting a server running, if you get it mail me, but you can join games with no problem, Now the dsl router plus a proxy and x-dent will allow for some sho-nuff anonymous activity.. if you get a router you will need no help, just read the book, keep the hub you can use it for Lan Parties and use it with your router to connect more computers to the network.

oh one more thing that fellow above was right, some ISP's will not allow this type of sharing, as it is stealing, and all of them frown upon it, my cable company told me they refuse to offer tech support if I am running a home network..."click" lol , but I deny it.Cable is the best way to go on sharing and networking, and despite what anyone says, if you are downloading on both pc at the same time.. expect lag!you are wasting your time if you are doing this to download twice as fast, but its perfect in my case, my wife dose her thang on her pc and on my "BASE STATION" I do mine.

I had the same hub problems w/ 2
networked pcs and a cable line -- got the
linksys and everything's great EXCEPT I
forgot I want to share a printer between
the two -- can someone tell me how to do
this? I have 1 PCI ethernet card on each
and the linksys (and a hub that Im not
using) -- I did not create the network as it
was before and Im not sure how to share
a printer between 2 pcs --can I go thru the
router? or do I need one to be a server?

thanks
Jade
