hot spot to router

Specs: Windows vista
my internet connection for my laptop is a hot spot. i have a desktop that i am trying to connect also. I have a linksys router that i previously used for my connection with dsl. i would like to have the router pick up the hot spot signal, but it doesnt seem to work. the internet connection light blinks on the router, but does not show on the desktop. please help

router is designed to send/receive not repeat or bridge wirelessly.

Being a linksys you could investigate DD-WRT or WDS

i want it to recieve. it orginally sent. im wondering if i need to
"reprogram" or something to make it receive.

Actually it sends and receives since the wireless signal from it to your pc is two way.

What you are asking for is a wireless repeater or bridge which it is not designed to do... which is why I pointed you in the directions I did.

Put dd-wrt into google and read up on what it is about.
