|For quite a fair while now, I've been using Zyxel PLA-401s to connect our computers to the router.|
Earlier today, the one for my PC stopped working. It went cold and there are no lights on it. Fortunately, I have a spare one. It is the exact same model, but I cannot verify the firmware version. This spare one, once all connected up, won't communicate with the other plugs. The connection light is off, but the Power and Ethernet lights are still lit. I cannot connect to either of the other plugs. Hence, I cannot connect to the router.
I have downloaded the firmware detection and update tools from Zyxel's website, but I've tried everything I can think of and the software will not run, not even in compatibility mode or with admin privileges. I think this may be because I have a 64-bit OS (Windows 7 Home Premium).
So, any suggestions? There are no controls (buttons, dials etc) on the plugs at all, not even reset switches. There are three plugs in the network: mine, brother's and the one by the router.
