Hi

First post here - hope someone can help. I'm a frequent pc user but not particularly technical.

My problem is that when I first lauch internet exlorer (IE6) after booting my PC it takes at least one or two minutes to find my homepage.(Google). Everything is fine and quick after that.

I'm using XP Pro with 1.25gb RAM and running Norton Sytemworks, Spysweeper and Zonealarms Pro but with these running it used to load my homepage quickly without problems.

Getting really frustrated with it - please help if poss.

Try setting about:blank as your homepage. Also are you able to ping anything when this is happening.

Have already tried changing my homepage several times but the same thing happens. While I'm waiting for the page to open nothing else on the PC responds.

Can't see a printer being the problem.

Hve you recently installed any new applications or installed new updates form Windows?

If there are a lot of processes running when Windows starts this can slow down the starting of your homepage.

That would explain why you are OK after a few minutes.

You can stop processes running at startup that are not needed if this is the case.

No new applications.

If I run msconfig and click on startup tab there are the following
ccApp
SNDMon
Zonelabs
ctfmon
Wanadoo Connection

Is it only on startup that you experience these problems.

If you boot up your PC and leave it for a few minutes do you still have the initial waiting period to connect to Google, and the loss of response from the PC, or does it load up OK.

It is only on startup or reboot.
I still have to wait for homepage to load no matter how long I leave it before trying.
