OS: Win XP on one PC and WIN
CPU/Ram: PIV/Intel/512MB and PIII/
Comment:

Sir,
I have a Desktop Intel PIV-915GAV Board with Lan Card and ADSL Router for broadband connection for internet with USB Enabled connection. I have WIN XP installed here.

I have a Dell Latitude Laptop with WIN 98 (P-III with 64 MB Ram) and since there is no Lan card i bought a USB to LAN Concertor and the related software is installed as it is showing in the Network Properties.

I now want to connect these two so that i can share the internet connection and also Printer sharing in my house as i use the Laptop exclusively.

How can i do it .. ? any help is welcome please.
I tried doing it through Win XP Wizard when it said i should install all the components required for it to run on the other PC also by using Additional Services in the WIN XP installation startup screen. I did that also in the Laptop. Still i am not able to connect.

The status Icon in my Win XP Desktop PC says that only limited Access and gives a personal IP address that is all .. It is not able to connect.

Please give me a step by step guide or any link that will provide me a solution.
Thanks in advance

If your current ADSL router doesn't have ports for connecting more than one computer to it, I would buy another router. If you don't want to but another router, you can use ICS (Internet Connection Sharing). Heres a HOWTO on setting up ICS.

Thanks i am able to share the internet connection. One more problem Desktop PC is where the Printer is installed and Internet connection is installed. Whereas i am able to connect to the internet and able to connect to the Laptop where i have shared the files, the reverse process is not possible. Can you help me how to solve this. What i want to know is how to access the Desktop PC from Laptop. Whenever i put the IP address or try to Ping the laptop with the Desktop it is not working and i get a message "Request Timed OUt" whereas i am able to use the Ping command from my Desktop to Laptop with out any problem. Only this will solve my problem of Printer sharing as the printer drivers are in Desktop pc through which i need to install the printer on to the Laptop.
Thank you

Sorry, I was away this weekend.

Try turning off ICF (Internet Connection Firewall) on the host.
