Sir I have a Desktop: Intel PIV 915GAV, 512 MB RAM, Ethernet connected with Laptop via cable, ADSL Router for internet connected to the USB Port. I have another Laptop: Dell Latitude CPxJ650, 64 MB RAM, USB LAN Convertor for Routing to Internet access
I am able to establish connectivity to the internet in the Laptop. I am able to access internet through desktop also. My problem is I am able to Access the Files from Desktop to Laptop by giving the search IP address or the PC Share Name. But I am not able to do the reverse from the Laptop. I am not able to connect to the Desktop from Laptop. What could be the problm. Any one please ? Jagannathan Balaji

I would connect all PCs to the router and the WAN port of the router to the modem. Put all PCs on the same subnet either through DHCP or static IPs. Then create your shares and make sure file sharing is enabled. Click start, run and enter you \\name or \\IP_address from there. You should see everything.

Odds are the xp firewall is preventing your access from laptop to pc. Turn it off as a test. If this solves the issue configure it to "trust" your laptop and all will be well
