I am trying to setup a home network with 4 computers and a server if necessary. I have a 3com 4900 series gigabit switch (overkill I know but it was given to me) and am gonna be connecting the network to DSL. I didn't really want to invest in a router since I already had a switch to connect the PC's but I was confused about the IP addressing. If I set up my server on Win2k would I need two NIC's or could I just hook up the server's single NIC and the DSL into the switch? and also when I do connect it, how do I setup the server to assign IP addresses to the other computers? The other PC's will be running Win XP. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, most of all I don't want to invest in any more hardware than I already have. Also, (sorry) how would I protect the PC's, would ZoneAlarm running on the server be sufficient or is there any firewall's built into Win2k?Thanks again

Winxp comes with Router s/w, DHCP s/w and firewall s/w built in. I think you already posses all that you need.
