Why cant I direct cable connect (serial) win98 and ME? Is it compatibility? I have all network protocols, etc. Is there a direct modem connection program I could use?

What are you using as an adtaper (Under network sttings)Control panel->network
You hare to be using a null modem cable. It won't work if you are not using one.
