Hi,
I am trying to build a small home network - XP on main computer, 98 on second computer. Most important requirement is to share the internet connection, which is via a cable modem.
I have a hub (NetGear Ethernet Hub) and a bunch of ethernet cables. I want my main computer XP to act as the gateway and fot the second computer to access the internet through it. When I use the network wizard on XP it tells me that my computer must have a network connection as well as an internet connection .... did I miss something? Am I setting it up wrong?

In order for this to work you need two NIC's in the XP machine. One for the internet, one for the LAN. The internet NIC will most likely be assigned IP settings from your ISP's DHCP server. You can set the address on your LAN NIC to 192.168.0.1
ICS will serve up IP addresses for your clients and should automatically make your LAN NIC 192.168.0.1 when you enable the ICS sharing on the internet NIC but in a really small LAN I've found I've had to statically assign the IP addresses for best results. (ie: clients IP addresses: 192.168.0.2, .3 etc) Your client(s) should point at your 192.168.0.1 address as their gateway.
