First off I'll tell you the set up I have now and the one I would like to have in a few months. As of now I have my cable internet networked through a Netgear RP614 4-Port Router with two PCs running on it perfectly. I'm setting up a wired home network and would like to have freedom to plug my laptop in to this network in every room, so I would need a total of 10 ports. Would I be able to buy a Netgear FS608NA 8 port switch, connect cat5 cable from the router into a port on this switch, then from this switch connect cat5 to all the other rooms for my laptop?
