hi all, hopefully someone out there will have some idea about this problem.
ihave two win xp computers networked and connected to the net via windows ics. they recognize each other in the workgroup section and shared files etc and the connection status on each of them shows information transfering both ways. so at least visually all is well. except the client computer cannot access the net however i try. as i said all visible signs on both say all should be working. i hope someone can help as i`ve tried everything i can think of. many thanks dave..

What type of internet connection do you have? Broadband,Dialup? If you have broadband does the host computer have at least 2 NICs? If so, I would delete the ICS coneection and then starting with the host computer, verify the internet connection. Then set up the ICS on the host first, then the secondary machine. You should statically assign a private IP to the host machine's secondary NIC, and place the other computer on DHCP
