I have a PC and a laptop, the PC makes directly connection to the internet, and the laptop uses Windows XP home network (with a cable between my PC and laptop).
I'm not using a router.
On my PC internet is working fine, on my laptop I can browse files of my PC etc.
But when I try to open a website it doesn't load it, it just says "opening website..." EXCEPT for www.google.com, which is the only site I've found that works. (I can search for anything, it shows results, but I can't open them.)
When I try to connect to MSN Messenger, it can't login and returns a "the service is bussy" error, and when I enter some wrong login information is returns "the password is wrong".
On my PC I have Zonealarm firewall, but I turned that off and it made no difference. (The home network is allowed in the settings anyway.) I also tried turning off the Windows firewall with no results either.
The problem started when I changed the modem for my cable internet connection.
I used to have a modem that required a login (COM21), and now it is a modem that's always connected to the internet (Motorola Surfboard). And I no longer have the connection icon in my Network Connections.
This means that the setup wizard of the Windows home network is a bit different:
I used to select the modem login-connection as my connection to the internet, but I don't have that anymore, so I chooce the connection of the network card that is connected the internet.
Does anyone know what the problem is, or maybe even have a solution for it?
