I have a linksys router with 4 ethernet ports wired to a DSL modem. I wire ocmes out of therouter and i want it to go to a ethernet wall plate. A straight-through cable goes from router to wall plate. On the other side of the wall plate is another straight-through cable going from the back of the downstairs wall plate through the wall to the upstairs. There is a hole in that wall with another wall plate, where the straight-through cable ends. Another straight-through cable is connected from the wall plate upstairs to another computer. This is still just proposed. will this work? Where should I use straight-through and where should I use cross-over?Suggestions?

All connections should remain straight through. There is no need to use cross over. white orange to white orange orange to orange white green to white green blue to blue white blue to white blue green to green white brown to white brown brown to brown

Crossover cable are only used to connect two nodes (pcs, routers, end devices). As long as there is a concentrator (hub, switch, etc.) all connections are standard.
