High speed USB broadband for 10-year old PC

Specs: Home Windows XP
Hi I have just upgraded from dialup to wireless broadband. My computer is 10 yrs old, and doesn't have any hi speed usb ports to my knowledge. What do I need to operate broadband much more efficiently. It is slower than dialup now! I am very much a beginner so no tech speak.

Many thanks hitech illiterate Annie.

My first choice would be an ethernet card that has drivers for the operating system currently installed.

My question would be why wireless?

Wireless is not a hi-tech alternative to wired. It is a hi-teck solution to a situation that requires portability. As this is a PC, portability doesn't appear to be a consideration.

You would be far better of with an Ethernet card and a wired connection. Far more reliable, faster and would not tax a 10 year old computer.

Ethernet cards are not expensive at all. However a lot depends on what network hardware you have, Modem, router, etc.

I presume by Wireless Broadband you mean 3G Broadband and the Service Provider has provided you a USB 3G Modem.

If that is the case you need to buy a PCI USB 2 Card:
