Hi guys!! Good Day to all!!

can anyone help how to create a default gateway on windows xp. Ok here is my setup.

We already have a router and the network were doing fine sharing files and internet. Our router also serve as our DHCP server so the PCs got their address automatically. Now what I want to do is to setup another PC to serve as a default gateway for the other PC that would be added later on.

So I set up a new PC(that will serve as a default gateway for the new PCs). I installed 2 network card. 1 connected to our router the 2nd connected to a switch. The 1st NIC connected to router has a 192.168.0.9 address which I bind to this NIC and 192.168.0.1 default gateway. The other NIC was statically assigned as 192.168.0.3 and the gateway is 192.168.0.9 (which is the 1st NIC IP).
I then setup another pc and connect it to the switch were the other pc (with 2 NICS) were connected. I set the IP address to 192.168.0.4 and 192.168.9 for the default gateway.

What Im trying to do is to use the internet from the 1st nic (192.168.0.9) using the 2nd nic (192.168.0.3) of the supposedly my gateway PC (pc's with 2 NIC).

and apparently the reason Im here is it isnt working. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

May I ask why you want to go through all that work and why you don't want to just add all PCs to the router? Dual homed machines really don't work well for internet traffic.

I agree with guapo, just add the PC to the router. If your LAN ports on the router are all full, buy a small (8 port) switch.

You're making a lot more work then you have to.

If however you have some reason that you absolutely have do this the hardest way you possibly can find then here's a question for you:

Did you enable ICS on the multi homed PC? If not, you'll have to.

One other thing on the 'hardest way possible' method, use a different subnet for the secondary network. On the other NIC of your ICS PC, use something like 192.168.1.1 and the client can use 192.168.1.2 with a gateway of 192.168.1.1

By default ICS will want to assign 192.168.0.1 to your second NIC, you'll need to change that to an unused IP in the other subnet since 192.168.0.1 is likely your router's IP.
