Specs: Wndr3700v3
I bought a netgear N600 router on craigslist that was first purchased by previous owners in 2012. I called netgear to get help getting the user name and password but they said the customer service plan was expired and I needed to purchase a plan for a hundred and some odd dollars for them to help me. Does anyone know how I can get the user name and password without their tech support?

Have you read the manual? The default user name is "admin" with password "password". If the password has been changed then follow the procedure in the manual to reset the router to its factory configuration:

"To restore the factory default configuration settings:

Use a sharp object such as a pen or a paper clip to press and hold the restore factory settings button, located on the bottom of the router, for about 5 seconds, until the Power light begins to blink (see “Router Label” on page 6).

Release the restore factory settings button, and wait for the router to restart, and for the Power light to stop blinking and become solid green. The factory default settings will be restored so that you can access the router from your Web browser using the factory defaults."

If you are referring to the admin / login pasword to access the router management and setup then that's usually admin / password.

If the wifi aspect, then you login to the homepage, using the above (default) details and then go to the wifi setup section.

If the default login etc has changed for homepage access, reset the router to factory defaults. This is usually via small hole in the rear panel, or less often a wee button on the rear.

This reset wipes all previous user settings, changes etc. restoring it as delivered when new.
