Specs: Windows 7, 1.8cpu 512mb ram
how do use pxe locally to restore laptop with an optical drive which spins up but wont find a boot sector. Which unfortunately failed half way through an xp installation. So being experienced jargon is English to me but i have never used pxe any advice on how to go about it would be appreciated. Can it be done on a local network using win automatic installation kit? Thank you just for reading and thanks in advance to any help received!

You cannot do what you are thinking of doing. PXE stand for Pre-Execution Environment. It is used to run Windows on a disk-less workstation or to install Windows from a server over a LAN

To use it you need a Windows server running a server OS that is configured for remote installation.

Far cheaper to go out and but and new CD/DVD drive.
