If your ISP has provided you with a modem, then you can buy whatever router you prefer. Since you're talking wireless, I'd get one that's dual channel, both 2.4 and 5.0 GHz. You're also going to want N (as compared to the older/slower b/g).
When you configure your wireles network, be sure to use WPA2 encryption and a reasonably complex encryption key to protect yourself.
