Help on network interruption please
Name: mhchiang Date: June 24, 2006 at 00:13:36 Pacific OS: Sun Solaris 5.8 CPU/Ram: Sun blade Product: Sun blade
Comment:
Our Sun workstations have been experiencing network interruptions, resulting in network unavailable except intranet. PCs on the same network appear ok somehow. The interrupt lasts a few minutes occasionally. When it occurs, the workstation also becomes unaccessible from off-campus. The interrupts do not occur consistently from machine to machine. It used to be okay. Any help is appreciated.

Are you saying that only the Sun workstations lose the connection but the windows PCs don't? Are they all on the same subnet? You might need to give a little more detail on the network topology.

Thanks for response. Yes, the PC's work fine. The PC's and workstations are connected via the same hub and the same subnet. All of them use virtual IP's on campus, but the workstations also have real IP's which can be accessed from off-campus. Hope these help a bit.
