help me please

i have two xp pro pc's and on the main pc ive set it to share asdl modem with other pc the main one says its sharing it but no gateway comes up on the other pc , but ive networked it for file sharing and ive maped drives fine can someone help

Windows ICS allows this. I would buy a cheap router and use that instead. It would make sharing a whole lot easier.

$30 or less for a cheap one. Check some place like dealtime or one of those comparison shopping sites. Well worth it. Once configured, small routers are practically appliances (maybe a firmware update every once and a while).
