I'm having trouble connecting with my laptop to my speedtouch 576 router, and AOL help (It's not my fault I have AOL I know it's bad but it's these people i live with!!!) the problem is when connecting with my wireless card to the network (that has auto obtain DNS and IP which i think is what it's meant to do) The laptop states :" This problems occurred bacuse the network did not assign a network adress to this computer" WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN!!!!! Of course AOL offers no good help whatsoever but to call technician numbers (with a half hour wait.....)

"your router"?
You need to talk to the people you live with, they may have encryption set on the router, which keeps people from indiscriminately using thier network connection.

Is your router set to broadcast your SSID? (name of your network) check this in setup and also do you have your computer set to obtain the IP automatically via DHCP? check in wireless connection properties>general?TCP/IP (from the list, you double click this)>general>obtain IP address automatically should be ticked.
