haleluya the day has come i finaly have windows vista but there is a problem. i have a netgear wirles router witch i used to set up a network but when i use my windows xp desktop to go into my windows vista laptop it keeps saying i need a password and usere name? i never even set one so i prsume it comes pre programed. what i do is go into my computer,work group,to my windows vista laptop via the network and yes i told my laptop to share the hard drive wich is were i want to acces from my desktop pc so if any one noes the defult password that would be great or how to find it nout aut at least ow and 1 more thing the user name is preset i cant change it.

A little sentence structure would be nice. You most certainly can change the username and password on either machine. As for "Default password," if these are your machines you should indeed know the account information. If you want to access one from the other, then you'll need to enable file sharing and set permissions accordingly. Life's more painless for the brainless.
