Help guys,
I set up our home network. 3 Computers, hub, internet... Got everything working cept for one wierd little problem.
My brothers pc (XP, all running XP) works on the net, but getting it ON the net is a problem. You have to right click on the little network icon in the bottom right corner, and DISABLE it. Then open up network properties and ENABLE it again... THEN IT WORKS! Otherwise when he tries to get on the net from booting up his pc, it will say... Work offline? Can't connect to internet...
Everytime he turns on his pc, he needs to disable and then enable his stupid network connection.
Can you guys help, my pc and my moms are normal, just boot up and we're ready to roll...
Help me please figure this out...!!!
Thanks in advance,

If your LAN is disabled, Xp will remember it when it reboot. Just enable it before you shutdown the PC.

I am also experiancing this problem on my computer, i am using a Linksys Wireless-G USB Network adapater on the computer in question. Are you using a wireless connection also and if so what make and type is it? This way we can identify if this is a wireless issue or something else.
Thanks Phil

I think my problem was the Winsock 6 was damaged\corrupt on my computer. I ran Winsock Fix on my computer and this resolved the problem. You can get winsock fix from http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html

HERE IS THE SOLUTION:
Hello people,
Today I encountered a similar problem and was able to find a solution. The soultion is not straigh forward, but if you will follow my steps it will bevery easy to solve.
1.) First of all you need to download a tool called DevCon (Command Line Utility Alternative to Device Manager)
You can get it here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q311272
2.) Run "cmd", go to the folder where you have the devcon file and type:
"devcon find pci\* > c:\a.txt"
(This will list all the PCI devices that you have on your PC to the file a.txt on your C drive)
3.) Create bile "somename.bat".
Add two lines to it:
devcon disable =net "@PCI\VEN_11AB&DEV_1FA6&SUBSYS_3B091186&REV_07\3&61AAA01&0&90"
devcon enable =net "@PCI\VEN_11AB&DEV_1FA6&SUBSYS_3B091186&REV_07\3&61AAA01&0&90"
Where the "PCI\VEN_11AB&DEV_1FA6&SUBSYS_3B091186&REV_07\3&61AAA01&0&90" is the name of your network card that you found in step 2.
4.) You are done ! Now add this script to your startUp folder so that it will excecute every time you start Windows.

Oleg Yunakov
