I just got a cable modem and it is working fine with the internet. I really enjoy the speed. But, I would like to share this speed and connection with the small LAN that I have. I just use Window's way of connecting computers up. Other than having that internet sharing connection setup from Windows, how else could I let my little LAN use the internet at well? Must I have a web server? I tried connecting cable modem ethernet connection to a regular hub and then from the hub I tried to connecti my regular PC onto it. This method didn't even let my PC see the cable modem at all. What am I doing wrong?
I don't plan on buying software nor do desire to evaluate software. What options are out there? If there is a simple fix for this please let me know. Thanx.Tony

You will either need an IP router or unique IPs for each machine. Your ISP should offer additional Ips, though they might cost you an extra monthly fee. You need to place the cable modem Cat5 into the Uplink on your hub.

Tony,
Consider buying an Etherfast Cable/DSL router (with switch). For example the Linksys BEFSR41 lets you connect four computers to the router using CAT 5 wiring and there is no need for a hub (because of the built in switch). Plug your cable modem into the cable line and then your router into the cable modem. Then your computers into the router. It will also act as a firewall and avoid you having to set all the software firewalls up on each PC. You can still use your existing account with your ISP and not need to purchase any individual IP addresses for each PC.

Try using sygate
you can download it from www.sygate.com
I found it simple to use. just install it on the server and then follow the readme to set up the client computer
