I was wondering if there is an open-source software or a free tool for at least home users that can easily backup and restore machines/hard drives just like you do when you have Novell ZENWorks Imaging where you just boot up into a CD and type img restorep or img makep.

This is one I found - have not checked it out, seems software's maker homepage is no longer active also.
