Computer A and computer B have Intel Pro/1000 MT gigE adapters in them. I have a cat5 cable running between the two and they can talk fine at 100baseTX, but not 1000baseTX. Both machines are OpenBSD 3.5.
By doing an 'ifconfig em0 media 1000baseTX' it puts the card into 1000baseTX but then the status says 'no carrier'. at ifconfig em0 media 100baseTX all works fine. 'autoselect' goes to 100baseTX
Can I force gigabit another way? Or is something else the problem? Thanks.
