well i bought a gigabyte DS3 motherboard a few months ago and didnt notice the problem until now... it's supposed to have a "Marvell Yukon 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet" NIC but the options it gives me for "speed and duplex" are only up to 100mbps. i really dont understand this since it's called a gigabit ethernet card.
i dont know if anyone has any info on this, could get some info, or whatveer but it's really bothering me now.
the motherboard is probably close to 4-5 months old (since i've had it) and i know a WHOLE lot about computers, my driers have been updated with the supplied CD since i got it and they're dated to 7-12-2006.
please ANY info would be great. THANKS!!

Depends on what you are pluging the Ethernet card into. If you are plugging it into a 100Mbs Switch or Router that is all you are going to get.
To get 1 Gbs everything in the link must be rated at 1 Gbs. I will only be as fast as the slowest componant.

Should still have the option of setting a gigahertz. Have you gone to the mainboards web site and see if this has been reported? Contact support? See if there are updated drivers?
Imagine the power if you knew how to internet search

make sure your cable is capable of running at 1000mbps (cat 5e or cat 5 but all the 4pairs should be used). check also your switch or router and ensure its a 1000mpbs switch or router.

My gigabit switch shows there IS a gigabit connection, when I use "auto". I'd rather not set auto-negotiation (too many products have issues with that) and set my speed and duplex manually. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any way of doing that within the driver software.
I'm using the latest driver software from their website (10/15.7.3) so I guess our next stop should be the Marvell support page to ask them to support manually selecting gigabit full/half duplex?
