I want to do almost the same, I went so far already (Peer-to-Peer connection, Mapped Drive). The machine that I want to ghost is 4GB data and booted and running ghost, the destination is my laptop on the network running XP, as I said, I have peer to peer connection already, but when I select the mapped drive and I start the ghost process I got the error message of not enough space (Ghost says my Destination is only 2GB). For sure is a problem with the FAT, but I don't have this limitation when I use the Slave and Master Connection, works fine BUT! a friend told me that I can ghost using XP in the destination machine...is it true?
I am a bit confused.
Ghost normally makes an image file but can clone a system. The slave or client system for a file does need to support file sizes that could be large. A clone doesn't require any OS other than what the Ghost boot disk has. You can't clone to an XP machine, only make an image file. It should be able to limit file sizes to less that 2G. (at least 2003 can)
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.
The destination machine should be booted of a "Ghost Boot Floppy with networking support" or if feasible use PXE!
No, i'm not trying a Disc to Disc image, If I do that I would erase my Laptop's hard drive. I'm trying Disc to Image file.
Orbital, yes, I can do it like you said, with the Peer to peer connection (Slave-Master). But, I want to know if it's possible or not to ghost the image in my mapped drive (destination machine running Xp) without the limitation of the 2GB. Even if I use the span option and select another mapped drive, when ghost prompt me, I got the same full disk message. I read about booting with W98 disk intead ME (XP Boot disk), but it was the same result
