Gateway Netbook has Limited or No connectivity.

Specs: Windows XP SP3, Intel Atom CPU N270 1.60GHz
I'm working on a Gateway LT2016U and it will not connect to the Internet (wired or wireless) to its home modem. I can access the same modem with my Netbook (wired and wireless) so I know the modem is working. I can access the Internet with the Gateway anywhere else ( my home and my work) but it will not connect to the owners modem. I've ran the network trouble shooting software and it doesn't fix anything. I'm at my wits end and have no clue what to do to fix this.

There's a useful little tool called 'Complete Internet Repair'. Available here:

It's free and works in a lot of cases. Don't just click every box, look at what each does and see if it's relevant. For something like this issue the top 4 options are a good start. I've used it a number of times where it's had me tearing out the little hair I have left..
