I want to set up an FTP server. I have 3 pc's connected to a linksys router and then to a cable modem. Is there a way to 1) get my outside ip, and 2) designate the proper pc to connect to given they are all sharing 1 ip address via the router.

If they are all sharing one IP on the router, you are running so-called NAT (Network Address Translation). What you need to do is to access the router and set up port-mapping. I.e., if you FTP to the routers address, it will pass the requests on to the given machine on the inside. This enables you to have more than one FTP-server on the inside, mapped on different ports. In short, you need access to the router and knowledge about NAT and portmapping.
