OK here's the problem... I need to set up an ftp TYPE server or something similar, where i can access a folder on my sons laptop. I'll need to up and down files. I'm not a lammer when it comes to this stuff, i was N+ certified 6 or 7 years ago and i'm comfortable with comp stuff, i'm having problems with this one though, I can't think outside the box. Thanks in advance.

OK some more info... I'm looking for a PROGRAM that will facilitate this I think... we can't worry about which router the laptop is on or anything such as this... Obviously we will not have access to all routers configs to open ports and such. We used AIM 5.9 and set up file sharing option with myself as the only allowed user and this worked great. He's using aim 6 now and it will not allow this. Is there any small prog we can use to have a constant share between us?

There are lot's of programs available to do this. PCAnywhere comes to mind immediately. If you check it out on google I'm sure you'll find many more.
Depending on what OS your son is running you could use putty if he's on linux or unix. Or you could just use RDP if both boxes are running Windows.

Search the net for a program called Hamachi. I think they are up to version 10. I have used version 8 for past year or two.
