ftp connection time out on XP Pro

Hi,
I have an XP machine that when I run an ftp command from the command prompt to run a job on the AS400, I receive a connection timeout from the remote host, and the command prompt window closes after 60 seconds.
I run the same ftp command to the AS400 from a winnt 4.0 server dos prompt, it runs fine with no connection time outs. This only happens with XP Pro and Windows 2003 server... Any suggestions? Thanks.
