my friend is currently signed up with BT. There are 3 computers in his house and they all get their connection from the one router. Last week, his internet started messing up. After being connected for a few minutes, his connection would die. Sometimes, he would be able to reconnect after only a few seconds, others he would have to restart his computer before attempting to reconnect. It soon emerged that this same problem happened all the computers in his house. He phoned BT askin them what was goin on, and they went on for a while, gave him a list of things he should check, e.g. micro filters, and after that had all been done without any kind of success, they said they could test his line. After the line test they said it was fine, and theres nothin they can do for him. So i was readin up on network disconnects etc, and apparently in internet explorer, theres an option to hang up after receiving an email. Now, is there any chance that he got a virus or sumthin onto his computer that would mess up the network? Hes right on the edge of the zone for receiving broadband in our area, but hes been connected for about a year now, hassel free, until now of course.
Any help is greatly appreciated as always

What type of router does he have?
Is the router getting hot?I have seen a lot of linksys routers stop passing trafic from the WAN to LAN.
What version of firmware is the router using?
