Reading this thread I wonder if you think my problem is similar, let me explain it brioefly and I'd appreciate your thoughts.

I have a Belkin wired F5D5231-4. I have an xp prof machine connected to the router. The xp prof runs as a server, its a brand new dell so I'd hope thats not the problem!

I have a little website hosted on the server. When I access it from behind the firewall it runs great all day long.

When I access it from a machine on the internet (my full time place of work machine) it works fine generally for a few accesses. Then after just 3 or 4 times of checking that the website is there (checking it from work that is) I get a message saying that "There was a communication problem, Message ID TCP_ERROR" - I have posed a copy of the error message at

http://www.floweracre.com/TheProblemIs.html

When I then get home and try to access the internet - nothing. If I try to access the setup page of the Router - nothing. Pull the plug on the router, plug it back in, all hunky dory... untill I next access my site a few times from the Internet.

Any ideas?

Getting toward the end of my patience with Belkin. I spoke to Dell - they blamed the Router. I spoke to NTL (my isp), then blamed the router. I spoke to Belkin - they had less idea than me.

I thought about the firmware of the router, but the setup of it reprts there are no updates.

I suspect an overheating problem on the router.

I had the same type of problem on a Linksys. Repalced the router and away we went. No problems since.

I'll try anything. Its currently flat, as its set up on the picture on the box. Tonights job - after the daily re-boot, will be to shift it upright (I wondered why it came with a very last minute looking stand which is cheap plastic and looks out of place - hopefully this is the key) and place it next to the air vent.

Larry,

Overheating router freezes!

Well having tried all the high tech solutions with no joy I stood the router upright and placed it as close to the window as I could. Its basically in a much cooler place than it was.

Guess what. It ran for 3 hours consistant Internet side access which is a massive step in the right direction. You may have the solution here.

However short of placing the router in the fridge there isnt anywhere that any cooler in the house then were it is. Time to look on the net for a small external fan that I can leave on 24x7. Bit of a bugger when a router cant cope with the hardly exceptional temperature here in the UK.

Anyone know any fans that run 24x7 nice and cheaply and reliably and wont catch fire!

That's great!

Maybe a computer case fan with longer wires spliced in will work?
