I have two comps. Ones a new Dell w/ XP and the other is a Gateway w/ XP upgrade just installed. The Dell is a different format fromt the Gateway (dont no what format Dell is, Gateway is FAT32) Do I have to change the format of the Gateway to get the network to work properly?

no you do not

FAT32 is an older fileing system from NTFS (New technology fileing system)

ntfs is more secure. stable and faster with a lot more security for networks

both formats work with one another so you do not need to make both as one
