Hi everyone,
Quick question about a firewall. I setup home networks in my spare time and I've come across the issue of firewalls. On a standalone PC that's connected to the internet I always used ZoneAlarm (freeware) and it worked great. When I run ZoneAlarm on a home network it blocks ports that need to be accessed by the home network. What's everyone's opinion on the best firewall software I can buy for a home network? Norton Firewall 2001, Black Ice?
If I buy software such as the above will it do the same as ZoneAlarm and block stuff out that's needed to run the network and internet sharing?

A Firewall is a necessity, visit 8wire.com. They did a comparative review of several popular software-based firewall. ZoneAlarm was one of them and BlackIce is also in there. You might want to check on the results from their review. In addition, there are some products like WinGate, WinRoute that provide a firewall solution and also make it easy to share one internet connection. The product is easy to configure. Good luck.
