Easy question: how can I find the ip address of others on my lan? I've heard of using snifferes, nestat.exe, etc. Any real answers? I'm not a hacker at all, just curios. Thanks

i have similar needs, since i lost the ip of a print server attached to the same switch of my notebook - and i have no MAC and no reset button on the print server (now i know what they mean for "black box"... :) i don't need to sniff the whole LAN but only the segment of the switch: a friend told me it is possible by using ARP - i would prefere void installing any 3rd party software. Any idea? tia

Google for Angry IP Scanner. It's a small app that let's you scan any range and returns the status of each IP address (dead or alive) and does a lookup so you'll see the name at each address. Great little utility.

If you know the network Name of the computer or device, just go into the command prompt and ping the name.
