Find IP address of URL

Is there anyway i can find out a URL's IP address. Example: say www.yahoo.com's ip is 10.1.1.100, so i can type http://10.1.1.100.com and get to yahoo's page? thanks

click start - run and type
ping www.yahoo.com then hit enter
the results will show up in a DOS window w with the website address and IP address.

You could also use nslookup which wasnt supported on earlier windows version but I believe works on windows and works on all solaris, linux etc. Try BrADMatt's Idea and see the machine that will respond howevernslookup should give more
