Connected vista 64 and Gateway XP to Belkin router. Both connected to internet fine, Vista (host) sees the XP computer but the XP won't connect or show the Vista. Can't determine the settings issue with the Gatway XP Home. Any help

Check the firewalls first.

I had already turned off both firewalls. The Vista (host) and the XP both access the internet, the XP can access the shared folders on the Vista, but the vista can't access the XP. I believe it may be do to the names of the computer, network name, etc. the titles used on the different window versions are al little confusing.

What else is running on the XP box, Norton or anything?

Make sure the permissions are set properly on the shares & create a workgroup. Then find the IP address of the XP box, go to the Vista box, open the task manager, click file, run & enter the IP
\\192.168.1.100 or whatever it is. The shares should open.

I would say that Norton is blocking it.
