Files disappeared after IP address change

September 5, 2010 at 21:54:46
Specs: Windows XP
My PC is running on XP and I have a static IP address defined on it. Recently, our network IP address range has changed but i haven't changed it on my PC and no network errors or problems were appearing. I was able to save my files with no issues even though my IP address was not in the acceptable range. When i restarted my PC few days later, it highlighted to me that i had limited connectivity so I simply changed my static IP address to be within the new range. However to my surprise, all files that were saved since our initial network changes are not there anymore. I tried to do a recovery but again the files were not found. I appreciate any help you can provide me to get back my missing files. Thanks.

I also just want to mention that the missing files were in a shared folder. I was actually saving files by connecting to the shared folder remotely using the old IP address of the PC (\\old ip address\shared folder name)
