I have a network with a Belkin wireless router. I have 3 PCs connected by cables and one wireless laptop. The three cable-connected PCs have complete network functionality but I am having a bit of trouble with the laptop. I can access other PCS's shared files from the laptop by typing the IP address of a specific computer but when I try to view the workgroup I get an error message saying I don't have access. This limits me from setting up a network printer on the laptop. All computers have file and print sharing installed, and i've tried turning of all of the firewalls. I can use the Internet on all machines and I can even see the laptop in the workgroup on other PCs. After connecting to a different computer from the laptop (by running \\192.168.0.2), I can then see 'Shared Docs on 192.168.0.2' in network neighborhood, but it will appear as 'computer_name' Any advice?

The last sentence should be "will NOT appear as 'computer name'.

make sure any/all firewall software is configured to "trust" the local subnet so all have full access to each other.

You can always create a LMHOSTS file which will preload/cache the names to ip addresses on each machine. Same file for all.

there are also quite a few sw packages out there like colligo that share everything for you but, as stated above ,you can do it via windows as well.
