Hello,

I have a small LAN at work which consists of a Belkan wireless router, 3 cable-connected PCs, and I have also added my laptop thru a wireless connection. I have no prob sharing files and printers thru the cabled PCs but I cannot access the workgroup thru the wireless labtop.

On the laptop when I try view workgroup computers I get the error message, "Office is not accessible. You might night have permission to use this network resource...List of servers for this workgroup is not available."

**Office is name of workgroup

Also at the cabled PCs I can see the laptop under workgroup but when I try to open it I get the same message.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!!!

Are you positive that you have File and Print Sharing installed as a service in the properties of your wireless adapter?

If you do, I would try to access one of the wired PCs from the laptop via IP address. For example, if the IP address of wired-PC-#1 is 192.168.1.250, on the laptop computer click Start, Run, and type \\192.168.1.250 followed by the enter key.

Reverse the situation when trying to access the laptop shares. If the IP address of the laptop is 192.168.1.5, from any of the wired PCs, do Start, Run, and type \\192.168.1.5 followed by the enter key.

Try these suggestions and post back.

Yes, that worked but do you know why I can't access the other computers thru network neighborhood?

Thanks, Matt

What version of Windows are on ALL the computers? Post a list of each computer - how it is connected to the network and the version of Windows it is running.

Also, I'm not sure if your "Yes, that worked" response meant that you double checked to make sure that file and printer sharing was definitely installed?

Yes I am sure that all have file and print sharing installed. All computers are using XP. I can access the other computers' files thru IP, but not thru network neighborhood. Also I can't add a network printer to my laptop.

Sounds like a firewall issue on the laptop. Are you running any firewall software?
