File sharing on wireless network

I was running two XPs one ME and a 98 machines through a wireless access point - to router - to modem purely for shared internet access. I recently tried to set up file and printer sharing but it has given me no end of problems. Sometimes I can see computers and sometimes I can't or they'll be able to see me and I won't be able to see them. Sometimes you can access shared files through my network places yet if you go to entire network the other computer won't show up. There's no logic! Can anyone help?

What protocols do you have installed? NetBEUI is usually easiest to just work. If you only have TCP/IP it can be tweeky.

Thanks, I'll definitely give this a try. I am using TCP/IP at the moment. I will still need this to access the Internet won't I? Will having two protocols for one adapter confuse things? How does windows choose which one to use for file sharing?

Hello,
I have the same problem, I can't get it solved. I have it in two different wireless networks, different brands of routers, different PC's. Everything works fine, EXCEPT filesharing. I can 'browse' the shared folders, but as soon as I copy files, it seems to loose the other computer. Resource not available etc.
When I plug in physically to the router, using cables in stead of the wireless network cards, everything works fine!
