I'm trying to add a new computer to an existing network. It's using a belkin wireless pci card connecting to my network through a linksys wrt54g with sevasoft firmware (satori)and in the same work group as the other computers. It connects to the interent with no problems. The two other computers on the network are both running win2k and are hardwired. They can both see each other.
The new system can ping the other machines and the other machines can ping it by ip address, but it will not ping by host name. netbios protocol is installed on all machines and file sharing is enabled too. I have created user accounts with the same name and passwords on all the computers. When i look at "computers near me" on the New computer It only sees itself and not the others. I've tried turning off my router and software firewalls but it still doesnt work.

that does seem weird, can this new system ping other computers by dns name?
you can solve not pingable by dns name by adding a manual entry in host files of those two computers, but you root issue is protocol related, sorry, I haven't used workgroup for 3-4 yrs, everything you provided seems to be right/reasonable except netbios is not really necessary.
