Configuration:
2 x Windows XP SP2 machines. 1 connected to Dlink DIR-300 router via ethernet, the other is wireless.
I currently have a reliable shared internet connection that is active on both machines.
The wired machine and router have been configured for Remote Desktop. This also works reliably.
When I ping the router from either machine, it works.
When I ping 1 machine to the other I get nothing either way.
As I have been troubleshooting I have fully disabled all firewalls both in windows and third party software.
File and printer sharing has been activated on both machines.
Network wizards have been run on both machines and the respective setup disks used on the the other machines
What next!?

Ok... this should do the job;
If everything you after is sharing try this... in both machines
Control Panel/System/Computer Name/
click "change" and name your "workgroup"
once done reboot your machines...
right click on the folder and printer you want to share from each machine and share themthen find your icon to "My Network Places" or just type it into
the address bar, you should be able to see both machines...Machine 1(sharing the printer)
Machine 2(accessing machine 1 which shares the printer)Machine 2, from "My Network Places" open the machine sharing the printer (you should see the printer by now) right click the printer and click connect, a message will show up....
you should manage from here...
