I am asking a question for a friendHer Setup is.....
Desktop #1 - XPHome SP2 - Cable Modem + Wireless Router
Desktop #2 - XPHome Sp2 - USB Wirelss Adapter
Laptop XP Home SP2 - Wireless Adapter Card
All three Computers successfully Connect to the Internet
She wishes to enable File and Printer Sharing
The question is....
Is it necessary to create a Wireless Network in order to have File and Printer Sharing - or - does the setup above constitute a Network in itself.....
...can she proceed to set up File and Printer Sharing without using the Wireless Netwotk Setup Wizard?
Thanks - Lesley

masterjuan
Thank you!
So - she tells her Printer to Share and then Adds the Printer to the other Computers - is that correct ?
Would there be any danger in Enabling F&PS on the two - non-host Computers - (Windows)Firewalls ?
Lesley

Yes, just enable F&P Sharing, then share out the printer and add it tot he other computers.
F&P Sharing always has some risks. But, the router (if properly secured) provides a good level of protection and helps to minimize the risks.

properly configured = don't forward port 445 to anything.

yea and make sure your antivirus is up to date and of course tell windows firewall or any other firewall that you have to make the exception of f&p.
Mess with the best, die like the rest!!!!
