My network was functioning perfectly up until recently. I behind a netgear firewall and am still able to access the interent fine, but i am unable to access any of the other computers on my network. I have uninstalled my network card, check for software firewalls (eg windows firewall) changed ip settings etc.
Though when i right click on the network connection and press repair i get a message saying it was unable to complete the task of "clearing Netbt"
i believe this is the problem but so far have been unable to fix it. I do not wish to format just to get this working again :(
anything help is appreciated :)

How were you configured when it was working?
How are you configured now?
What changed? Only thing that should have changed was ip addresses but from the sounds of it you have gone elsewhere. Can each pc ping the other?
Golly gee wilerkers everyone! Learn to Internet Search

everything has remained the same, i just turned the pc on one day and it cant communicate at all with the other computers, pinging gave just time out errors. I find it strange how i can access the router/internet still

I'm currently having a similar problem, being able to access the Internet with one of four machines that WAS working fine, but now sporadically cannot access the LAN on boot. Re-booting eventually solves the problem for as long as the computer stays on.
Some have suggested changing the problem computer's port connection on the router, or switching it with another computer on the LAN. Changing cables was another. Possibly opening the case as re-seating the network card could be helpful. Swapping out or replacing the NIC might offer relief.
If you DO find a solution, sharing it with others would be appreciated, I'm sure. Good luck! Right now (knock on wood), my problem machine sees the LAN, but who knows what tomorrow will bring!

tfcking - you can always try to uninstall the network adapter from Device Manager and re-install the drivers.

I was having the same problem and I finally came upon this. I went into TCP/IP properties and disabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP and clicked ok. I repaired the connection and it didn't hang. I went back and enabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP and I was able to see my entire network. Hope this helps
