EZXS16W and the internet

Specs: x64 vista ultimate, Q6600@3ghz and 4gb
it appears through my reading that the EZXS16W is just a switch to connect devices on a network, however it will not connect that network to a router/the internet. is that correct?

My old man got it from work and they had no idea what it does either.

Any switch can be connected to a LAN port on a SOHO router and then all clients plugged into the switch and all will have LAN and internet connectivity.

When connecting a switch to a SOHO router like this it is recommended to use a crossover cable. While not necessary thanks to auto MDIX capabilities built into SOHO router's and most modern switches, it's still a good idea in case something ever goes wrong. It would be one less thing to have to remember/look at, in the case of having to troubleshoot.
