Hi :)

I'd like to extend my wired (cat5) network. Currently I have a combined wireless and wired 54g linksys router of which is not ideally situated to use wirelessly, nor do i really want to move it to a higher position which would reveal all the cables and the cat5 cables to the room are chased in to the wall.
How can I best extend my network using a wired\wireless switch? Primarilly I want to extend this to my lounge for multmedia purposes with the highest possible bandwidth for video transfer.

I'm not sure how switches work and how they're connected, just that they're better than hubs for transfering full bandwidth to each PC.

Thanxxx
M

You want highest possible bandwidth, you want a wired connection.

lol think of it like this:

a switch is a clever hub, but it is not as clever as a router:S

use a switch, just plug it into 1 of the ports on the router, then plug ur pcs that u want in the other location into the switch.

thats it

Thanx for all your replies, most appreciated :)

Could anyone possibly recommend a switch? Or are they pretty much the same?
Does the switch need to connect to another PC via usb, or can it be hidden out the way and just plugged in to the mains?
You may well laugh, but it's all ne to me.

Thanx
M
