I have a desktop [#1 - XP Pro OS] connected by cable to a wireless router, which is conneceted by cable to a DSL modem [SBC/Yahoo].
I have another Intel desktop w/WiFi[#2 - XP Pro OS], E-mac laptop w/WiFi[Mac OS], and now an HP Pavilion 2200 laptop w/WiFi[XP Home OS]. All work fine connecting to the Internet.
I would like to be able to access desktop #1 and my data from at least the HP laptop. (Ultimately I would like to access everything from everything, of course.) If anyone has the time to respond and get me going between these two, thanks so much.
I know there is a Wizard for doing this in XP Pro, but I'm not sure at which end to start.
If there are any good books for beginners available, thanks also for the input.

You simply run the network wizard on both PC's and enable file sharing on both PC's then reboot each PC.
Then you can go to the PC you want access to and share them to your network. Go to the folder you want to share and right click it and choose properties, then choose security, from there you will see how to share the folder to your network.
Another way would be to map the drive to your laptop. That way all security setting are transfered. Go to My Computer on the laptop and click on tools and then map network drive. Browse for the hard drive on the PC you want access to.
